Magnificent seven

Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai (1954) is westernized as The Magnificent Seven. As its unforgettable theme music plays, in the back ground there are gun slinging shadows that are depicted over a red background which tells you what the movie is going to depict. though jam-packed with action, the magnificent seven's screenplay pauses long enough to flesh out each of its characters, allowing the audience to pick their own favorites.the different settings show the life of a gun slinging cowboy. the sounds of gun shots and the sound of exaggeration when people die brings a different affect to this movie. although at the end of the movie when the vilin dies his blood is really red and favors ketchup which brings a cheesy affect to the movie.during the movie each character has a certain style about them wich comes out in there fighting style or shooting style. the character that specializes with knifes dresses has a different attitude than the rest. also the state of the mexican ton shows how helpless the mexicans are.

YOJIMBO

Sanjuro's appearance in town stands as one of the greatest introductions of setting of all time, the town is given life in a brief sequence that allows the entire film to benefit from it's evocative beauty. The town is empty, yet through a series of dutch angles and long shots, Kurosawa is able to establish a permeating tension that ripples throughout the town. As Sanjuro approaches, townsfolk peer from behind shudders and wooden columns, paralyzed with fear. Though this fear is without known cause, we are soon illuminated to the nature of it; a dog appears, running through town with a severed hand hanging from it's mouth. Sanjuro's reaction is almost imperceptible, yet the dimensional quality of Sanjuro is portrayed as a man who possesses such intelligence as well as such physical ability in his use of subtle mannerisms which betray his true intentions. The dog continues along its way, and Sanjuro meets his central connection to the violence ravaged town in Gonji, the tavern keeper.
Among Kurosawa's previous efforts within the samurai genre , Yojimbo is remarkable for it's restrained focus, it opens on a shot of Sanjuro from behind, and remains stuck to him through to the end of the picture. The few scenes which take place in his absence are used strictly to reveal events which he earlier had set in motion. While on screen he oscillates between a deadly ferocity and serene contemplation, steadily taciturn and unwilling to compromise, both as an actor as well as a catalyst for the plot. The opening shot of Sanjuro looking over the mountainside serves to establish the proximity the entire film will take to him; he will never be far from the camera's view.

Film and Digitals

Some rental houses are film and some are digital. the Clairmont camera company started off in film. over the past thirty years they have steadily expanded their inventory to include a vast variety of 35mm and 16mm film cameras.then they started the digital division in 2001 where they modified their Sony F900 cameras to be film friendly.

Seven Samurai

The seven Samurai is black and white Japanese film.the movie is constructed with different lenses,sounds,close-ups,and in every black and white movie,shades. in the seven samurai the cinematographer shows important scenes in different lenses. which mean that the camera show a closer than it actually is. this is used to show the main character of that scene from a different view point. whether its third person which gives the effect that you are actually there.one example of this is when they show Shino's(the farmers daughter) father with the effect that he is actually standing in the fire. this represents how mad he is that his daughter is in love with a samurai.
there are many close-ups that arecasted on the main character. especially when he is given a up lifting speech to the other samurai or the farmers. in one instance the camera was so close that he was out of frame, and all you saw was his enraged face. this emphasizede the importants and focus of his speech.

TITUS

Released in 1999, Julie Taymor's visually and viscerally striking adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy Titus Andronicus is an overlooked work which came in for ample criticism during its release balanced in equal part with praise for its acting and visuals.The film is visually stunning with magnificent and bold camera work. Certainly much has been done with Shakespeare's work on the big screen, most recently with the light touch of Shakespeare In Love, but "Titus" is something new and completely different in terms of filmmaking. Taymor does bring sort of a theatrical quality to the film's sequences, and it actually serves the proceedings well. It's one of those films that grabs the viewer (literally) and pulls him or her into the chaos, starting with an odd scene of a boy playing war games, and then being pulled into a coliseum. and thats how the movie begins.
the tale is the most violent work that shakespeare has produced. and in this movie it is depicted well with the gory scenes. The film's visuals do work with the story for quite a while. like the use of colors, Colors run the range from being pale and subdued to beautiful and rich. Especially some fo the outdoor scenes look good, with rich greens and clear blues.another great quality of the movie is the sound,much of the audio is inviting and involving.

John green was once destined to become a barber but he becomes a cinematographer. now he is the recipient of the ASC lifetime achievement award. He was the director of photography for many great movies like Twister, Eastwood's Bird and many more.

Thrown of Blood

THRONE OF BLOOD

After watching Throne Of Blood i drew parallels too Shakespeare. Shakespeare's play Macbeth has many similarities to Throne of Blood. there is also some similarities to the famous Japanese Noh theatre. Noh is a major form of classic Japanese musical drama that has been performed since the fourteenth century.
i see this form in the Throne Of Blood, because the Throne Of blood Had a spirit that would tell of great prophecies. Often in the Noh Theatre it usually deals with Spirits, Ghost, phantoms and supernatural worlds. the connection to the spirit in the Throne of Blood is the three witches that appear in Macbeth. the main characters in both story lines both have the same goal and play the same role. both of the women in the Throne of Blood and Macbeth both pay a big part in the great ambition of both characters.

In The throne Of Blood the cinematographer takes shots from many precarious angles. where there should be clear shots of the characters, he makes you pay attention more to detail and the movie, because you have to analyze what is going on.in most of the movie there is a deep mist that is created and it gets thicker when the spirit is in the scene. another element that plays a great part is the voice of the spirit. the voice of the spirit seems low and distorted but travels all through out the forest.

Tomorrows Technology

In 1913, a group of motion picture cameramen in Los Angeles were meeting to speak about the most pressing technical issues facing them at work. specifically the static electricity that was building up in their hand cranked cameras. hand cranked cameras are the first generation of film making cameras. the static electricity was causing the the film to Fog because the static was messing with the camera.eventually the camera evolved and we are using better and sustainable cameras.

Heroe

This movie heroe has great cinematography. the cinematographer enhances the scene with different picture angles. he aslo uses different time frames to intensify the scenes imagry. During the movie the lighting had to be just right. the reason for this, is that if the lighting is not right it would kill the affect of the movie. the lighting is real important because it gives the feel of an old time chinese setting.

O Brother vs The oddesy

O brother where aret thou has many comparison to the great story called the oddyssey. the oddyssey is an epic story of a great heroe going on many great journies,in which he fights great battles. the story plot for O brother where aret thou is the same.in class today we had to draw the parralels between the two. In the movie the men go on a journey that has an obsticle that they have to face and surpass to move on to the next journey.in both the main characters common goal is to get back to his family.both of these plots end with just that.

Though the directors and cinematographers still want to use the same 35mm cine lenses that they trust and have worked with over the years. With the large sensor, the new sony F35 camera directly accepts PL-mounted lenses so these cinematographers get the look and feel of 35mm cine they desire.
